* Went swimming
* Been to Cali every few weeks
*Football season is in full effect in my household
*I'm back at school to finish my nursing degree
*Kids also started school
Then............
I participated in the Disneyland Half Marathon on September 6, 2009. For those that don't know runners lingo, a half marathon is 13.1 miles. So my parents asked me a few months ago if I wanted to do it and I said sure. I stressed at first then let it go. I trained about 3-4 times a week and did pretty good. Like I said to everyone, I am no professional runner but I am no quitter.
So the day came and we woke up at 3:30. We got to Disneyland about 4:30. It was a cool 64'. I was so nervous that morning [just ask the toilet....sorry TMI], I couldn't wait to start it. So we lined up and the butterflies were slowly disappearing. We then started and crossed the start line with Mickey and Minnie waving us on. I turned my Ipod on and set myself up on cruise control. It was so fabulous!!! We ran through California Adventures and Disneyland during the first leg of the race. Then we ran on the streets of Anaheim. The entire time I had tons of people in front of me and behind me so I wasn't lonely. We ran through the parking lot of the Honda Center then across the street to the Angels Stadium [picture above is inside the stadium] . This was about mile 9 and my hamstrings were starting to bother me. By mile 10, I couldn't take it. I walked from mile 10 through 11. Lots of pain and stopping to massage them and stretch the muscles out. Then we approached California Adventures for the last mile and I ran it all. I was so tired and the running seemed to help abit. I saw the finish line and couldn't believe my eyes. I crossed it and said "Wow, I finished my first half marathon....Congrats me!!!!".
My time was 3 hours 8 minutes 9 seconds.
Not bad for my first 1/2 Marathon.
It was the best feeling ever!!! I promise I will do it again next year. More pictures of the day to come later.

OMG! That is amazing! I am so impressed. I have been wanting to do that. However I thought I would start with a 5K considering my asthma. I was training in the summer and then fell off the wagon due to circumstances. This is so inspiring. Good for you girl! So nice to see you are back in school. I will keep you in my prayers! Hugs, Melanie
